Kids With Character

Posted by Mrs. W. on Apr 2, 2011

ur personalities are made up of character traits and there are many of them. Although we are naturally born with them, it often takes time to really develop them so we are contributing in our families and school in a positive way. Here’s a small clip on why “character counts.”

Remember to take time and learn about different character traits that are important to you or your family and development. There will be more information added about different character traits over time.

Pure Imagination

Posted by Mrs. W. on Mar 25, 2011

Our imagination is such an incredible gift we are all born with. With so much time being spent on video games, the Internet, TV etc., somehow this gift is not being as developed in many children. I came across this video clip and thought I’d share it. Hope you enjoy it. Start to use and develop your imagination more. It will take you to all kinds of magical places and the possibilities are endless.

6+ billion people, holding Japan in their hearts…

Posted by Mrs. W. on Mar 13, 2011

Quite a beautiful thought! I saw this on Facebook it was posted by Joe Noonan. He said to share the message, so that’s what I’m doing.

Join in its magic and healing!
You are invited to imagine it, giving it power and life…

6+ billion people sending waves of light to Japan…..
6+ billion blessings energizing the people, animals, land and sea…
6+ billion vibrations of love, touching everything that is upset…
Imagine the power of that!

Keep imagining! :) (…and pass it on!)

Choices

Posted by Mrs. W. on Feb 27, 2011

A choice is when you get to think about and consider all your possible options then choose the one that is best for you AND others. It’s important to take the time and think about the options and the consequences of each one. It is also important to consider if you make a choice, how might make someone feel.

Once you have considered all your options, make a choice that is truly the best one for you and for the others involved. Doing this is respecting yourself and respecting others.

When we make responsible, caring choices that we are accountable for, we feel really good about them.

Think of a time you made a good choice you were proud of and that made you feel good about it. What happened…? The more we learn to make choices in this way, the better it is for us and the other people involved.

Loving Yourself

Posted by Mrs. W. on Feb 25, 2011

Love yourself…

The first and most important person to love is yourself or else you cannot truly love others. You practice loving yourself by taking care of your mind, body and spirit.
Take care of your mind:

  • go to school where there are many things to learn
  • complete your work and do it to the best of your ability
  • ask questions when you don’t understand something
  • read on  a ‘daily’ basis => this is HUGELY important
  • learn new things; take risks and believe that you can learn new things
  • discuss things with adults you trust, have interesting  conversations
  • learn about the things that interest you, be curious about many things
  • be aware of your thoughts… listen to the positive ones

Take care of your body:

  • eat healthy foods from all the four food groups; remember to include fresh fruits and vegetables every day
  • decrease the number of foods that contain large amounts of sugar, preservatives and additives
  • drink 8-10 glasses of water a day
  • exercise regularly => walk, run, take part in sports, dance
  • take vitamins and minerals or anything your parent/guardian feels is best for you; research what you out into your body
  • rest: you need 9-11 hours of sleep every night for your body and mind to restore themselves

Take care of yourself spiritually:

  • practice your religion if you/your family have one
  • make time daily for stillness, for ‘quiet time’
  • take time to reflect and pray
  • show compassion, forgive others
  • keep a journal to record your thoughts and feelings, dreams and wishes
  • discover what brings you joy and take part in it
  • surround yourself with inspiring quotes, pictures, music
  • read books by spiritual leaders you find interesting
  • spend as much time out in nature as you can
  • count your blessings; show gratitude; say ‘thank you’

Hope you enjoyed this.

Love

Posted by Mrs. W. on Feb 13, 2011

Love is a special feeling, the goodness in your heart. It’s a constant in all that changes in life. We are united through its power, and its energy moves us to reach out to one another. When we practice love, we overcome hatred, fear and suffering and create peace, joy and harmony. When you are being loving, you help other to feel important.

THAT’S the kind of world we want to create and live in!!!

You are practicing love when you:

  • treat others the way you want to be treated
  • say loving and kind things
  • share your things and your time with others
  • show affection
  • think loving thoughts
  • take care of the things you love

Questions to think about/journal about:

  • What are 3 ways you can show love for people (family and friends)?
  • What are 3 ways you can show love for animals?
  • List some things that you love other than people and animals.
  • How do you wish/want people to treat you?

And, since it’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow, remember to tell the people you love that you love and appreciate them: your family, your friends and others. This kind of love is the one that connects all human beings to each other in a special way, which is different from romantic love.

Have a blessed day!

Inspiring Words

Posted by Mrs. W. on Feb 12, 2011

In my travels about today I came across some really inspiring quotes and thought I’d share them and see if any are meaningful to you. Hope you enjoy them and they make you think a bit.

  • The appreciation I have for you is beyond words, as you are a magical creation, and your miraculous nature is always uplifting the world, when you are creating from the heart, and not the mind.
  • Your heart is golden, meaning that it has something inside of it, that cannot be explained in words, and it is the vibration that it carries, that we can all feel, and know to be here in love.
  • Notice how angry or violent you are every day, and that alone will help to transform completely out of holding onto any aggression, and make for a more peaceful life now.
  • The more you hate, the less you can love, the more you judge, the less you can accept, and this is the ultimate truth, and the more we resist, the less we grow, as notice that the sun never resists its shine to the Earth.
  • Peace is something that we have, and can never let go of, as it is only hate, grief, sadness, and any other destructive emotion that we all have the choice to let go of.
  • Life can only get better when we allow it to be so, as it will never get better if we do not give ourselves the intent to do so.

The author of all these inspired quotes is Anitheiess Jackson.  He has a beautiful gift to share with this world, just as each and every one of you do. Feel free to leave your comments.

Blessings,

Note to God

Posted by Mrs. W. on Feb 12, 2011

I was absolutely awe-struck as I listened to this young 8-year old girl, Rhema Marvanne, sing this song. The words of the song are so meaningful. This little girl lost her own mother to cancer. She has truly been blessed with a special gift, her voice… and with it she will touch the lives of others.

Note to God
If I wrote a note to God
I would speak whats in my soul
I’d ask for all the hate to be swept away,
For love to overflow
If I wrote a note to God
I’d pour my heart out on each page
I’d ask for war to end
For peace to mend this world
I’d say, I’d say, I’d say

Give us the strength to make it through
Help us find love cause love is over due
And it looks like we haven’t got a clue
Need some help from you
Grant us the faith to carry on
Give us hope when it seems all hope is gone
Cause it seems like so much is goin wrong
On this road we’re on

If I wrote a note to God
I would say what on my mind
I’d ask for wisdom to let compassion rule this world
Until these times
If I wrote a note to God
I’d say please help us find our way
End all the bitterness, put some tenderness in our hearts
And I’d say, I’d say, I’d say

Give us the strength to make it through
Help us find love cause love is over due
And it looks like we haven’t got a clue
Need some help from you
Grant us the faith to carry on
Give us hope when it seems all hope is gone
Cause it seems like so much is goin wrong
On this road we’re on

No, no no no
We can’t do this on our own
So

Give us the strength to make it through
Help us find love cause love is over due
And it looks like we haven’t got a clue
Need some help from you
Grant us the faith to carry on
Give us hope when it seems all hope is gone
Cause it seems like so much is goin wrong
On this road we’re on

If I wrote a note to God
